A flamboyant tribute to the 250 GT; the Ferrari Roma
What drove Ferruccio Lamborghini from building tractors to the 350 GT was Ferrari’s 250 GT, a timeless classic. To fire a fitting tribute to this legend, Ferrari sculpted what can be regarded as a perfect re-incarnation of its ancestor.
Ferrari Roma, a V8 powered coupe is what ‘La Nuova Dolce Vita’ means to Ferrari. Teased with a cappuccino and sunglasses, Roma has been in the news for quite some time now. What made it more anticipating was the fact that Ferrari again shifted all its focus towards their sweet V8.
Apart from all, that’s inside of Roma, the smithereens of its beauty lie outside. Roma is a mirror image of the ‘city of echoes’, where the launch of this eternal machine took place. This symbolizes the symbolic nature of Italian manufacturers as we have seen with the ‘Macchi C.205’.
Taking its inspiration from the ‘La Dolce Vita’ era, Ferrari decided to fit the Roma with a silhouette resembling the 250GT Berniletta Lusso and grille and the hood from the 250GT two-plus-two.
Now, let us dive into the mechanical aspect of this beaut. A 3.9L award-winning V8 is what powers this Ferrari and to top things up, the 62mph barrier is crossed in 3.9 seconds. Producing 611hp of power at 7500rpm and 561 lb-ft of torque, this Ferrari is definitely in the big-boys league. Though the saddening part is the lack of a manual transmission and that too in a tribute.
As per Ferrari, Roma is equipped with some innovative blades in its knife wrap which supports her in achieving best-in-class performance. Some of these include a built-in rear spoiler, Side Slip Control 6.0, Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer and lighter components to help increase the power-to-weight ratio.
This GT by Ferrari is something which has the potential of becoming the sickest addition in one’s garage and we will be more than happy to experience it ourselves.
