At the exterior, the styling pattern remains the same, and not much difference can be spotted. The only noticeable change is the GSi's daytime running lights that are shaped like a boomerang. Besides, the main grille gets little correction in its appearance.

The change in the powertrain is a major upgrade for this offering. The car now rides on a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 230 hp. The four-cylinder engine comes mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox and with a "Twinster" all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring. The new Insignia GSi comes equipped with an adaptive sports suspension system which offers the drivers four different modes, namely Standard, Tour, Sport, and Competition.

The GSi variant comes equipped with a new electro-hydraulic brake booster. This tech upgrade of the car is being touted as the eBoost system, which enables "braking by wire" in the vehicle. This new tech feature is described as a platform that will be required for automated driving in the future.

"We are proud of our new flagship," Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller said during the presentation of the vehicle in Brussels. "The Insignia looks fantastic, featuring class-leading technologies such as the IntelliLux LED Pixel Light, fuel-efficient gas and diesel engines, adaptive FlexRide suspension and outstanding wellness seats. The GSi is again the top model in the series and as engaging to drive as a real sports car."

Lastly, the rest of the Insignia range has also been shuffled. The base unit now comes equipped with a 1.4-litre turbo engine that generates a maximum power of 145 hp and produces a peak torque of up to 236 Nm. The engine comes mated with a manual 6-speed gearbox. The other choice of the powertrain is a 200 hp 2.0T with a 9-speed auto.

No comments have been made about the price of the facelifted version.
