2020 Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, comes with refined aerodynamics
Ferrari revealed the evolved version of 488 GT3 with the name 2020 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo at this year’s Ferrari Finali Mondiali event in Mugello, Italy. The first and foremost improvement in the new customer race car can be seen on the aerodynamics front.
By redesigning the front, the aerodynamic efficiency of the Evo is increased by 30 percent. To do this, the firm changed the front overhang’s length and repositioned the sides of the bumper. Now the front downforce can be adjusted independently of the rear as per the weather and track situations.
If we see the alterations done at the rear-end, we can find new air vent in the engine air outlet grille which supports in adding downforce. A new rear diffuser is provided to help the 488 Challenge EVO stick to the track even better. Along with the modified huge rear wing, a new winglet positioned under each side mirror is also provided that works send more air to the intercooler intakes.
As compared to the 488 Challenge, the firm has loaded 488 Challenge Evo with 50 percent more overall downforce. One more significant upgrade can be observed in the form of new Pirelli tires which uplifts the overall performance of the race car and also confirms the considerable lap-time stability during long sessions.
Besides upgrading the exterior appointment, the brand also loaded the vehicle with
- A tweaked traction-control system
- A selectable anti-lock brake system with four channels
- A finely tuned electronic differential
- More durable carbon-ceramic brakes
- A rear-camera system
Moreover, the company said all of the new components and improvements will be available as a single upgrade kit for existing 488 Challenge race cars.
