2020 BMW 840i will be priced for less than $100k and hit dealerships in September
BMW 840i will be the cheapest among the 8 series. It will be priced under $100K, and the entry-level 840i Coupe is expected to be priced at $88,895. It will also be served in four-door Gran Coupe and convertible form.
The production of the six-cylinder 8 series will start in July and is likely to hit the market in September. Even though the rear-wheel-drive variant is priced at $88,895, the all-wheel-drive variants will command a $2900 premium. The fanboys of the 8 series convertible get the option of opting for the turbocharged 3.0 L inline-six engine for 2020, which will lower the entry fee substantially as well. The all-wheel-drive 840i xDrive convertible will hold the price tag of $101,295, while the 840i convertible will cost $98,395.
Currently, the 8-series is proposed only in M850i xDrive guise, which is priced at $122,395 for the convertible and $112,895 for the coupe. The turbo six motor is capable of churning out a maximum power of 335 hp. In terms of performance, it is not even close to the twin-turbocharged V-8, which puts out 523 hp of maximum power. M850i xDrive convertible has clocked 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.5 seconds. The six-cylinder is expected to deliver a smooth and eager performance just like any other BMW product such as 540i sedan and X5 xDrive40i SUV.
All the models of the new 8 series are expected to come with the slightly toned-down exterior design, which makes it more luxury-focused than the better-performing cars with M850i badge. After this new 8 series is launched, it will be possible to park an 8 series coupe or convertible in your garage by settling for six cylinders under $100k.
